Dreamscape Ranch was born from a dream — a vision of open skies, rolling grasslands, and a life spent caring for horses with love, respect, and devotion. After years of raising their family in North Vancouver, Lea and Bud Thorson decided to follow their hearts to the rolling grasslands just outside of Kamloops, BC. Inspired by Lea’s lifelong passion for horses and the powerful reminder that life is too short to delay dreams, they set out to build something extraordinary: a peaceful ranch offering horse boarding in BC, where horses could live their golden years in comfort, dignity, and natural surroundings
Why “Dreamscape”?
The name "Dreamscape" holds deep meaning.
It represents both an escape from the busy pace of city life and a breathtaking landscape of grasslands, forests, and wide-open skies.
Here, horses don’t just live — they thrive, roaming freely across 160 acres of carefully stewarded pasture, surrounded by the natural beauty of Knutsford, BC.
Dreamscape is not just a place. It’s a feeling — of home, of peace, and of belonging.
A Family Tradition of Care
In 2013, Lea and Bud’s daughter, Erika Thorson-Connolly, officially joined the ranch as Business and Operations Manager, adding fresh energy and expanding the family's commitment to exceptional horse care.
Together, the Thorson family built Dreamscape into what it is today: a trusted sanctuary for retired horses, a welcoming home for international helpers, and a place where love for animals and land runs deep.
Every horse that steps onto Dreamscape Ranch becomes part of our extended family.
We believe that true care goes beyond feeding and shelter — it’s found in every hand-mixed mash, every gentle health check, every quiet moment shared in the pasture.
A Lifetime of Experience and Dedication
With more than 20 years of experience specializing in horse retirement and full-care horse boarding, Dreamscape Ranch offers a depth of knowledge, attention, and compassion that few facilities can match.
We work closely with Kamloops Large Animal Veterinary Services to ensure expert medical care whenever it’s needed.
We’ve cared for hundreds of senior horses through every stage of aging, managing everything from specialized feeding programs to chronic health conditions with diligence and love.
Our ranch is designed around what horses need most: space, freedom, companionship, and gentle, consistent human care.
